Some reviews by primary school children
As you may know, we did two matinee performances for local primary schools. The children who came have been writing reviews for us for inclusion on our website. Unfortunately, there simply isn't room here for them all, so here is just a selection. A big thank you to all who sent them.
Review from Daisy and Heather @ St. Augustine’s Cof E Primary School
Before Christmas at The Swinton High School we went to watch the production of Cinderella. We thought the dancers were fab and the actors and actresses were brilliant. Cinderella, Buttons, Prince Charming and the two ugly sisters were outstanding, they performed brilliantly. We thought it was very funny especially Prince Charming he was extremely funny. We thought they all worked very hard to put this show together. We thought the singers sang beautifully and all had good voices. We was really impressed with the dance moves, they werefantastic. We would like to thank all the people who took up their time to put this show together. We really enjoyed it. Thank you very much.
Review from Katie Beardall of Class 6, St. Peter's CofE Primary School
I think the production of Cinderella was brilliant, I really liked the way you put different characters from other
fairytales into your show, you all have a great imagination. To everyone in Cinderella I want to thank you for inviting me because you made my day and I think your production was excellent.
Review from Harriet Buckley, The Deans Primary School
I thought The Swinton High School’s Cinderella pantomime was outstanding, I really think the cast people got into character. When the part of Jack and the Beanstalks Giant voice effect came up it made me jump out of my skin. I also thought Prince Charming was really funny, he made me laugh when he started to sing ‘I’m too sexy!’ it was really good. It was very emotional when Buttons had to leave Cinderella. The two twin sisters made me laugh when they were drinking alcohol and then polished the mirror with it and the mirror made fun of them! The most exciting part was when Buttons and Prince Charming had a sword fight. The strangest thing was having other Disney characters and fairy tale people like Red Riding Hood and Shrek in a Cinderella story, but when you altered the story of Cinderella I thought it was better than the usual book or film of Cinderella. The people who were playing the Father and Mother were very good at being those characters, it was funny when the Father hid under the desk being scared it looked like he was actually scared. It was good when they went to the ball and the two sisters were dancing round with the assistance of Prince Charming. I think the cast really put all their effort and energy into the play even the two story tellers. The dancers and the band were great and I don’t know how they do it.
Review By Olivia Collins and Candice Fawcett, Grosvenor Road Primary School
The pantomime was brilliant and weboth thought it was enjoyable and we think that Cinderella looked pretty and looked fantastic.
Buttons and the Prince was really good so was the ugly sisters and we cannot believe that Cinderella is under 15 years old. We liked the presentation and the music. We also liked the dancers too. The fairy godmother was really good and we both think that they were really good actors and the performance was better than other pantos we’ve been to.
