Welcome from the Headteacher
Welcome to the newly revamped website of The Swinton High School, a specialist college for the performing arts . We hope you find it useful, informative and, at times, entertaining.
It has been my privilege to be the headteacher of The Swinton High School since January 2002 and I never cease to be amazed by the enormous potential, enthusiasm and talent amongst all of our staff and pupils.
Nationally recognised as one of the most improved schools in the country at Key Stage 4, we are determined to maintain the momentum as we continue to make across the board improvements in all aspects of our work. We have made big improvements to key areas of our building: of particular mention are our improvements in music, dance and drama, as well as science, technology, ICT (computers) and business studies. In total, we have made around half a million pounds worth of investment in these areas in the last 48 months. All of our 7 science laboratories have been completely refurbished and we have just completed a substantial investment in ICT hardware and staff support.
Of our many initiatives, the biggest by far is our successful bid for performing arts college status. We are pleased to be the first specialist college for the performing arts (music, drama and dance) in Salford. The benefits which the extra money and opportunities this brings are immense and will be of particular interest to any parent and child of junior school age considering their choice of high school in the near future.
We will keep everyone posted of our progress and hope you find your visit to our website helpful.
With best wishes
