There has never been a more appropriate time to study Business Studies than now. With the emphasis on the ever changing economic situation facing us not only at a national level but globally.
Whatever your interests or ambitions, not only will business studies provide you with relevant knowledge, it will also give you a wide range of skills in preparation for college or work;

- practise and develop skills used in the workplace
- gain a real insight into a range of sectors and industries.
Business studies offers OCR National level 2 which take a more engaging, practical approach to learning. Business Studies are Industry-relevant qualifications.
With the Level 2 qualifications, pupils develop further their :
- Understanding and knowledge of a range of business functions, environments and operations.
- Communication and working with people – and get to grips with important practical tasks, including office administration and managing money.
Every unit is designed to help pupils’ prepare for the world of work, and to meet the expectations of employers.
There are three units of work:-
Investigating business, communication in business and keeping customers happy.
The course is 100% coursework and pupils will be awarded with 2 GCSE’s (A* - C)

Investigating business |
Looking at why and how companies operate in different ways, this unit covers topics such as business aims, the various types of ownership, and organisational structure. Pupils also learn about the importance of location and the influence of stakeholders, and study competition, in terms of price, product and customer service. |
Keeping customers happy |
Looking at how to keep customers happy and ensuring good customer service. The unit covers topics such as the different types of customers, how good customer service helps business performance, the protection customers receive by law, and sources of information, how to interact with customers in real situations, and review own performance, how to sell products to customers and review own performance. Pupils during 2009/10 attended Chester Zoo to gather insight of how Chester Zoo provide good customer service.

Communication in Business |
Here pupils gain a good grasp of practical business communication skills – IT and non-IT based, written and verbal. Topics include: how to write memos, emails, reports and Pupils during 2008/09 attended Old Trafford to gather insight of how Manchester United communicate as a business. |
Pupils have attended Chester Zoo and Manchester United looking at how both those companies operate.
