Anti-Bullying Advice
Who do I go to if I am being bullied?
There are lots of people in school that you can go and tell. You may wish to speak to your friends, your form teacher, your Head of Year or any other member of staff. You may also wish to speak to someone at home who will be able to contact school regarding your concern. In September, each year group will have a Year Manager who will also be able to deal with any issues or concerns that you may have. They are: -
Year 7} Mrs Mooney
Year 8} Miss Breen
Year 9} Mrs Howarth
Year 10} Miss Bardsley
Year 11} Mrs Goldie
Please tell someone in school if you are being bullied. The school will then work with the bully and try and get them to change their behaviour. We will also ensure that you are safe in school and feel happy about how the bullying is being dealt with. Please remember it is important that if you are being bullied you tell someone sooner rather than later because we can help to sort out the problem.
How will you deal with the bullying?
The school will use the following ‘Seven Steps': -
Step 1
Report the incident to any member of staff. They will then get someone to speak to you.
Step 2
The member of staff will then arrange a meeting with those who have been involved in the bullying.
Step 3
The member of staff will explain to the group how you are feeling. They will not attach blame to anyone. They will emphasise that you just want the bullying to stop.
Step 4
After explaining the problem, the member of staff will tell them that they have a responsibility to stop the bullying and make your life happier in school. Together they will work to stop the problem.
Step 5
The member of staff will ask the group for their ideas as to how they can stop the bullying.
Step 6
The teacher will pass on responsibility to the group to solve the problem and will arrange to meet the group individually the following week.
Step 7
The teacher will meet all the pupils individually, including the bully and the victim to discuss how things have been going.
